☆Recreational League Play For Rec-Plus Players☆

Rec-Plus players will still play in the prospective local recreational leagues.  Most if not all of these matches are normally played on Saturday mornings.  Rec-Plus teams will not play recreational matches on weekends that tournaments and friendlies scheduled.

*Example - If LVSA Rec-Plus teams are playing in a tournament or friendlies on any given weekend then there will be no recreational matches scheduled for that weekend.

  • Rec players from any organization can join a Rec-Plus team with LVSA. (For example they can play and be registered as a recreational player with another organization and still register as a competitive Rec-Plus player with LVSA.)

If you know of a family or players that participate in rec soccer with another organization but they are looking for a bit more than rec please share this information with them or contact Coach Ray.

Rec vs. Rec Plus

Did you know that LVSA offers both Recreational and Recreational Plus soccer programs? If your son or daughter loves playing the game for fun or is higher in ability and looking for a little bit more of a challenge, we have programs structured for both.

What is Recreational Soccer and who should sign up for it?

Recreational soccer primarily devotes itself to the enjoyment and development of soccer players without the emphasis on high-level pressure to win. The purpose of recreational soccer is to provide an opportunity for the participants to have fun, play with a sense of team and community, learn the sport, and develop life skills including a lifelong love of the game.

All practices will be held at the LVSA facilities in Lookout Valley. The recreational soccer program includes new to intermediate skilled players who want to enjoy the game without as much time or intensity commitment.

The Benefits of Recreation Soccer

  • Recreational soccer provides a rich and enjoyable environment where children can be introduced to the sport in a nurturing and supportive way that allows them to learn the game, experience the game and grow to love the game

  • Low pressure, fun filled activities are essential to the development of basic skills and tactical awareness and recreational provides just that model

  • All teams are coached by a league trained volunteer

  • Coaches will be strongly encouraged to complete a short 20 minute coaching course.

  •  Coaches will also have multiple opportunities to expand their coaching knowledge via USSF & United Soccer Coaches Association courses to be hosted by LVSA.

  • All Rec-Plus coaches will be overseen and mentored by the club’s coaching director.

  • Guaranteed 50% playing time (1-2 practices a week and 1 or more matches to be played in the Chattanooga area on weekends.)  *Matches are mostly if not always played on Saturday mornings.

  • Rec players can also take advantage of the Elite Player Development Program at an additional cost. *All recreational LVSA players will receive 25% off these supplement training programs and this will include camps.

What is Rec-Plus and who should sign up for it?

  • Currently for the Spring 2024 Season only light travel teams in the 2014-2015 age groups will be offered.

  • No 2014-15 player will be turned away from participating in this program.  Players will not be turned away that are interested.

  • All recreational players no matter what age will still have an opportunity to participate in the Rec-Plus training sessions.

  • Recreational players will still have regular team practices with their teams and recreational coaches.

  • These sessions will be extra sessions offered once or twice a week for players interested in getting in a few extra touches a week.

Other age groups may be added in during the 2024 Spring with hopes of more in the Fall Season.

The Rec+ soccer program is an advanced division for players U-9 and U-10. Rec-Plus is a natural next step for players who have obtained a higher level of soccer knowledge, skills, and abilities and are wanting a more challenging soccer experience. Competition and commitment for this division is higher than that of Rec. Practices will be held at LVSA facilities as well as other soccer complexes within a short 15 minute drive of Lookout Valley.

Local matches will be held at LVSA facilities as well as soccer complexes in the Chattanooga, Trenton and Fort Payne area.

Players will have two team practices, with a certified and licensed coach, each week. The Rec-Plus soccer program includes intermediate to advanced players who are ready to continue to enjoy soccer but at a more intensive level.

Rec-Plus players can also take advantage of Elite Player Development Program at an additional cost. *All recreational LVSA players will receive 75% off these supplement training programs and this will also include camps.

These teams and players will also have the opportunity to play in 2 local competitive soccer tournaments as well as one travel tournament within a short 1 to 2 hour drive of Chattanooga.  These tournaments will possibly require a one night stay in a reasonably priced hotel.

The Benefits of Recreational Plus Soccer

  • All Rec-Plus coaches are individuals that have or are in the process of furthering their coaching knowledge by acquiring a coaching certificate or a coaching license, and have a little more experience than a volunteer parent coach or willing to learn.

  •  Coaches will also have multiple opportunities to expand their coaching knowledge via USSF & United Soccer Coaches Association courses to be hosted by LVSA.

  • All Rec-Plus coaches will be overseen and mentored by the club’s coaching director.

  • Rec+ is a low-cost option compared to travel soccer.

  • Time commitment and competitiveness is greater than Rec.

  • 1-2 practices a week and matches on at least 2 to 3 weekends of each month.

  • Rec-Plus players can also take advantage of Elite Player Development Program at an additional cost to their club and team fees. *All recreational LVSA players will receive 75% off these supplement training programs and this will also include camps.

  • Opportunity to play 2 local tournaments and 1 travel tournament a season.

  • Evaluations (Tryout) are required for your player to participate in the Rec-Plus program.

  • Tryouts can also be held during a weekly team training session.  To sign up a player would 1st need to contact the club president or director of coaching to set up a time to attend.

Rec players will also be identified throughout their seasonal rec play, during rec training and during supplement training programs (Elite Player Development Program) and camps.
